President George W. Bush was president
from 2001 to 2009. He is well known for getting a size 10 shoe chucked at his
face but he dodged it. He was born July 6, 1946, Bush is the
second president to have been the son of a former president, the first
being John Quincy Adams (with the other familial presidential
relations being grandfather-grandson of the Harrisons, as well as
the Rooseveltsbeing 5th cousins). He is also the brother
of Jeb Bush, former Governor of Florida.
He was born in the bin Laden family to billionaire Mohammed bin Awad bin Laden in Saudi Arabia. He studied there in university until 1979, when he joined the mujahideen forces in Pakistan against the Sovietsin Afghanistan. He helped to fund the mujahideen by funneling arms, money and fighters from the Arab world into Afghanistan, also gaining popularity from many Arabs. In 1988, he formed Al-Qaeda. He was banished from Saudi Arabia in 1992, and shifted his base to Sudan, until US pressure forced him to leave Sudan in 1996. After establishing a new base in Afghanistan, he declared a war against the United States, initiating a series of bombings and related attacks. Bin Laden was on the Americans Top Ten Most Wanted Fugitives and Most Wanted Terrorists for his involvement in the U.S. embassy bombings in 1998.
Saddam Hussein formally rose to power in 1979, although he had been the de facto head of Iraq for several years prior. He suppressed several movements particularly Shi'a and Kurdish movements seeking to overthrow the government or gain independence, and maintained power during the Iran–Iraq War and the Gulf War. Whereas some venerated Saddam for his opposition to Israel, which included the use of military force, he was widely condemned in the west for the brutality of his dictatorship. He fell from power in the year 2005, and hung.
The President of Iraq Jalal Talabani is the head of state of Iraq and safeguards the commitment to the Constitution and the preservation of Iraq's independence, sovereignty, unity, the security of its territories in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution. He came into office 2005 and is limited to two four-year terms. The President ratified treaties and laws passed by the Council of Representatives, issues pardons on the recommendation of the Prime Minister, and performs the "duty of the Higher Command of the armed forces for ceremonial and honorary purposes.
